Sebatron vmp-4000e valve 4 channel mic Pre
The Sebatron vmp-4000e is a very warm sounding and versatile valve
4 channel mic pre. I've used it on rock vocals, synth sends to Pro
Tools, acoustic guitars, drums and live. During a recent live recording
of Troy Cassar-Daley (Australian Country artist), I used the vmp-4000e
on a room mic, kick drum & snare/ tom mic. The results where
warm, with open highs and very musical tracks. The unit is very
versatile with the DI input also coming in handy for bass (particularly
when the sound guy has run out of stage DI's). Other cool features
per channel include -15 & -30db pads, phase, phantom, Air (in/out)
& Deep (flat/deep/low cut).
I had the opportunity to record a local Sydney urban blues band
called Panda recently and used the vmp-4000e on bass, drum overheads,
kick and Snare/ Toms with great results.
The vmp-4000e also works extremely well during mixing to add harmonics
or fatten things up a bit. There's a lot to be said for putting
a track back through it again and again ... anything put through
the vmp-4000e has such an astounding clarity, depth, and detail,
particularly for a valve unit.
I find the vmp-4000e reveals the harmonic integrity and density
more than I've experienced with a lot of other mic pres ... It is
a great sounding and versatile piece. My other mic pre's include
D.W. Fearn, Neve 1073, Crane Song Flamingo & Telefunken V72's
and the Sebatron vmp-4000e proudly stacks up amongst this company.
In summary, if you are recording, mixing or mastering digitally
(or not!) I highly recommend the Sebatrons.
Some wonderful gear ... well done Sebatron!
